FibARM Structural Reinforcement System

Structural Reinforcement Systems (SRS) on the basis of carbon tapes are used for reconstruction of any engineering structures and becoming more and more widely used in Russia. Due to their unique properties they are irreplaceable in slum dwellings repair. Future applications for new construction are: CF reinforcement and fibre-reinforced concrete.

CF SRS are aimed at performing repairs and reinforcing buildings' load-bearing structures in order to avoid the consequences of concrete deterioration and steel reinforcement corrosion as a result of prolonged exposure to environment and aggressive media in the course of the above buildings operation.

At both the construction and operation stages SRS allows for attaining the following: rectifying engineering and work execution errors, increasing the structure bearing capacity when design loads are increased, as well as rectifying consequences of load-bearing structure damages that occur during operation.

SRS are easily applied. The technology is glueing high-strength materials to the surface of the reinforced structure with the help of epoxy compounds. The advantages of SRS applications are evident. Primarily it is time and labour resources reduction. When using SRS for reinforcement no additional heavy-duty equipment is required. Works can be performed without interrupting buildings and structures' operation.

In new construction of apartment buildings one of the most promising CF based Polymeric composite material products is composite CF reinforcement. The key applications of CFRP reinforcement in new construction are as follows: heavy-duty structures with unique material properties; structures operated in aggressive environment; high-strength elements of complicated structural schemes and solutions. Also CFRP reinforcement is used in repair and reconstruction of reinforced concrete and masonry structures as external reinforcement. The material advantages: Refractory properties, heat resistance, chemical stability, radiation stability, impact strength, etc.

One of the priorities in construction is product and structure manufacturing energy-, labour-, and material consumption reduction; quality and reliability improvement. One of possible ways to resolve the above problem is to apply composite materials, one of the advantages of which is a possibility to use them for manufacturing of elements with parameters fully matching the nature and environmental conditions of structure operation.
